DEEP AND ACCURATE SCIENCE
CarbonBook is the industry leading software for generating
highly accurate carbon scores and other sustainability metrics.
HOW IT WORKS
CarbonBook uses life cycle analysis algorithms to calculate CO2 equivalents from all aspects of indoor farming, including the substrate materials and containers used to initiate and maintain crop growth, fertilizers, water use, heating, cooling, lighting, waste disposal and transportation to and from the facility. The software also accounts for beneficial activities, including biomass generation and sourcing of renewable energy.

SCIENCE
CarbonBook is designed to meet the highest industry requirements for carbon footprint products, including Life Cycle Analysis Scope I, Scope II and Scope III tracking as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol*. CarbonBook uses the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and indoor agriculture- focused life cycle analysis to bring you the most accurate carbon calculations available for indoor farming.

STANDARDS
CarbonBook calculations are built on a foundation of standards.
-
ISO 14067: 2018 standard (Greenhouse gasses - CO2e footprint of products - Requirements and guidelines for quantification)
-
ISO standard 14044 (Environmental management - Life cycle assessment - Requirements and guidelines)
-
Corporate Value Chain Standard - of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP)
-
Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard - of the GHGP)
*GHGP itself is a joint initiative of:
INNOVATION THROUGH COLLABORATION
Collaborations with experts at the US National Renewable Energy Lab and the Danforth Center are helping us to identify ways that growers can further reduce GHG emissions. These results are incorporated into CarbonBook’s software updates for our customers’ benefit.
